Kanzashi Hair Clips and Corsages by Katie Chaplin
I have studied traditional Japanese kanzashi techniques and have been fortunate enough to meet the master craftsman who makes hair ornaments for the geisha and maiko in Kyoto, Japan.
After learning the techniques, I adapted them to appeal to Western ladies wishing to own a smart, individual piece of easy-to-wear jewellery for an evening out.
I make my kanzashi from vintage and modern Japanese kimono fabric, using the exact same methods as those made for geisha. Each petal is lovingly hand crafted and mounted onto felt, with a silver brooch back or hair clip.

My personal favourite! Made from a vintage obiage, hand kanoko shibori design which would have taken approx. 4 months to produce. I love to be able to recycle these beautiful fabrics once they are unable to be worn any more.
